April is National Interprofessional Awareness Month! When you go to your Primary Care office, you may see different types of providers. Provider types you might see are MDs "Medical Doctors", APRNs "Nurse Practitioner's", and PAs "Physician's Assistant".
At Premier Primary Care, Dr. Suresh Lohano, MD, Taylor Thomas, FNP-c, and Kavita Lohano, PA-c work collaboratively to provide the best care to our patients and community. All 3 providers can examine, diagnose, order and interpret labs and imaging, and prescribe medications and treatment plans. Our backgrounds and education differ; however, we work together as a healthcare team to make sure you are given the best care and attention.
National Interprofessional Awareness Month exists to educate our patients on the different roles providers play and how we use our differing strengths, interests, and education to put our brains together and provide evidence based care with up to date research and practice guidelines in mind.
For additional information, I have published a blog post on our website describing in detail the education, licensing, and board certification required for different types of independent practitioners.
